We recently had the pleasure of illuminating a truly magical 60th birthday celebration, transforming a stunning tipi space into an enchanted forest. The event was designed in collaboration with the talented Melissa Rose Design, who crafted exquisite foliage and floral arrangements, while Red Herring Events ensured the logistics flowed seamlessly and delighted guests with gourmet catering. Coastal Tents provided the tipi, an inspired choice that created an intimate and cozy atmosphere, making it the perfect canvas for this woodland-inspired celebration.
Our lighting design played a key role in bringing this forest theme to life. The dining area featured carefully positioned pinspots and gobo lighting that cast delicate beams across the foliage centre pieces, creating leafy patterns along the tables and floor. The chandeliers, positioned centrally, lowered the ceiling and enveloped the dining space with a warm, intimate glow, perfectly setting the mood for the evening.
To enhance the magical atmosphere, we filled the space with haze, allowing beams of light to dance through the air, highlighting the florals and the beautifully arranged food displays. The bar area offered a charming lounge with large, comfortable sofas and chairs surrounded by floral arrangements, taxidermy displays, and elegant décor pieces. Here, pinspot lighting emphasised these elements, drawing guests’ eyes to the bar’s lush greenery and the two main foliage center pieces that created a striking entrance feature.
As the night unfolded, the celebration shifted to the dance floor. We provided an array of fixtures around the tipi’s perimeter, each corner illuminated to create an immersive, vibrant party atmosphere. The addition of haze made the lighting feel even more dynamic, with beams crisscrossing, as the band played crowd favourites, setting the scene for a night of lively dancing and revelry.
The collaboration between Coastal Tents, Melissa Rose Design, Red Herring Events, and our lighting team made this celebration a seamless blend of design, comfort, and joy—a forest fantasy brought to life in the heart of the tipi.
