At Cinemattag, we pride ourselves on turning ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences and recently, we had the pleasure of working with The Dorset Foundation College (DFC) to transform their everyday studio into an immersive theatrical setting for their annual production, Footloose.
Our goal was to create a theatrical atmosphere within the familiar walls of the DFC studio. Collaborating closely with the passionate DFC team, we designed and implemented a complete blackout truss structure, lighting and audio rig. Lighting was a crucial part of this transformative experience; therefore, we carefully selected and positioned an array of versatile fixtures to deliver captivating visual effects. Rich hues of purple, vivid splashes of colour, and a soft starry backdrop came together beautifully, creating a dynamic environment that seamlessly matched the energy and mood of the performers. To complement the stunning visual setup, we installed a comprehensive audio system. The clarity and depth of the sound elevated the environment.
The result was genuinely remarkable. The audience stepped into the transformed studio feeling transported into a purpose-built theatre. The students’ performances were spectacular, enhanced by a setting that truly captured the spirit of their hard work and creativity. We’re thrilled to have been a part of DFC’s show journey this year, bringing professional theatre standards directly to their doorstep.
