Into The Spotlight

Another fantastic show week was spent working alongside a talented team at a local performing arts venue, providing full production support for their annual showcase. This year’s production featured numbers from a range of well-known musicals, for which we designed, programmed, and operated the stage lighting, audio, and visuals. One of the standout elements was the use of a brand-new high-performance projector, which illuminated the back wall with visuals customised for each segment of the performance.

Projected Visuals

This year, we added an immersive element to the production by designing, programming, and projecting visuals onto the stage’s back wall. Using a multimedia control system, we timed the visuals to sync perfectly with the soundtrack, enhancing the overall experience. For each show segment, we created both still and moving animations that corresponded to the themes, costume design, and lighting setup. For example, for one of the numbers, we used a mix of moving imagery and static projections, such as star animations and colourful backgrounds, to mirror the soundtrack’s energy and mood.

Stage Lighting

Stage lighting is always one of our strengths, and for this production, we worked with a broad range of lighting fixtures to fit the venue’s specific needs. We used a combination of moving heads, pars, profiles, and fresnels to achieve dynamic lighting effects from various positions around the stage. Fresnels were used to create soft, even washes of light that highlighted the performers in both natural and vivid tones, while strategically placed spots provided more focused lighting to enhance key moments in the show.

Additionally, versatile fixtures allowed us to create everything from tight beam spots to wide stage washes. These fixtures were especially effective for gobo projection and stage washes, adding depth and texture to the performance. With advanced color mixing technology, we were able to match the lighting precisely with the set design and costumes, ensuring each scene was visually cohesive.

Show Photowall Feature

To engage the audience even before the performance started, we designed an interactive photo wall in the theatre’s reception area. The display featured a shimmering sequin backdrop, with lighting elements suspended at varying heights to create an eye-catching centerpiece. This setup provided a perfect photo opportunity for guests, adding to the overall experience and theme of the show.
