Soft lighting, a cosy atmosphere, and the classic character of historical venues give winter weddings their special feeling. The lighting design was a key feature of the design at the recent St Giles House wedding open day, making each space feel atmospheric and intimate.
The lighting design for St Giles House focused on illuminating the space with chandeliers that would provide an air of refined warmth. The chandeliers added a touch of grandeur which enriches the experience for every visitor.
French Empire chandeliers were the focal point of the ceremony room. They drew the eye of attendees to the top of the room where couple would exchange their vows. 4 chandeliers made up the raised design, 4 more chandeliers were situated at the base of the overhead chandeliers nestled within the floral design that completed the design, the florals travelled up the chandelier stands creating a sense of continuity from the overhead chandeliers down to the ones on the floor. This design blended opulence with a rustic earthy vibe. Combining the grandeur of the venue with the countryside surroundings.
Crystal chandeliers created beautiful arches above the dining tables in the library dining room, making the ceiling look lower, making for an intimate eating experience. As the gentle light from the chandeliers fell on the tables, it drew attention to the elaborate place settings, stationary and floristry elevating the room’s aesthetic.
The tapestry room was transformed into a nighttime celebration with the addition of a dance floor lighting design, complementing the ceremony and meal areas. By using truss structures, moving lights, and mirror balls. As a decorative centrepiece, a cluster of mirror balls was set up in front of the DJ booth. Focussing the moving lights on the cluster of mirror balls created a captivating glitter ball effect on all surfaces in the space.
Also, the library’s old walls, historic bookcases, and elaborate architectural elements were all given a lift with uplighting. The purpose of strategically placing each light was to highlight the room’s unique features, provide visual depth as well as continuity from the overhead chandeliers down to the uplighting. The multi-layered illumination created by the uplighting and arching chandeliers brought an air of refined beauty to every area of the space.
The winter wedding open day at St. Giles House demonstrated how lighting can change a place, making it more intimate, sophisticated, and warm. The lighting design brought the historic rooms to life with chandeliers, mirror balls, moving lights, and uplighting, creating an ambiance that was perfect a winter wedding. Lighting played a vital role in this event, helping to generate a memorable mood in a historically significant location.
